1987
Developed the concept of packaging programming and convinced the programmers to adopt the idea. The result was the Variety Pack.

1988-1989
Played a major role in convincing General Instrument and distributors to begin to direct bill retailers, which enabled them to stock equipment.

1990-1992
Worked diligently with the industry's Anti-Piracy Task Force to eliminate signal theft in the industry.

1990
Played a significant role in the development of the proposal for authorization of consumer decoders in a commercial environment, along with other SBCA members such as Madeline Berger of ESPN.

1991
VideoCipher Renewable Security Program - began activity reports and a plan was implemented in December of 1992

VCRS
Developed the "Free Module Exchange Program" for legal consumers where General Instrument would supply decoders to retailers to provide free upgrades to any legal consumer.

Supported the SBCA and the industry on Capitol Hill by making personal visits to Senate and Congressional offices to lobby in support of the industry's position regarding retransmission consent and the exemption of superstations under program access.

1991-1995
Began a major effort working with the FCC to fight zoning and covenants restrictions. Began gathering case studies during this time.

1992
VMSD - met with General Instrument and laid out the parameters of the VMSD program, which discontinued the policy of forcing a retailer to send the entire IRD in for service when the module went out.

DBS Development - started meetings in 1989 and then developed a committee in 1992 to work with DIRECTV on sales, installation and programming.

1993
Launched, along with SBCA staff, the most successful retail member recruitment effort, enlisting over 600 dealers at the convention while attaining a 91% retention rate.

Reconstructed entire commission structure for the C-Band Programming arena.

1994
DBS Development - convinced DIRECTV to include independent retailers in with the national and regional consumer electronics chains in their retail distribution channels.

Developed retail business and financial models to assist independent retailers with incorporating DBS into their businesses.

Played a major role in the launch of the STRIVE education program at the national convention in conjunction with NARDA.

1995
Created the first zoning manual to assist retailers with zoning and covenants restrictions.

1996
In August of 1996, as a result of the SBCA and the Retail Council efforts, the FCC released a new regulation preempting local zoning ordinances and homeowners associations covenants and restrictions on DBS dishes under 1 meter. This rule was required by Congress in the 1996 Telecommunications Act.

Established the first on-line retailer referral database hosted on the SBCA web site.

Launched affinity programs as a membership benefit for retail members of the Association.

1997
Developed the LSO proposal, which was adopted by PRIMESTAR and used as their FSP model.

Began exploring ways in which programmers and retailers could establish a direct communications line for the purpose of ordering POPs and other programmer marketing materials.

Marked the first attempt for a state to implement a local tax on programming, which would have required retailers to pay tax on all of their programming sales. Several states followed, however, all attempts were defeated through a grass roots efforts started by the Retail Council and the SBCA.
